ZEE5 Bangla will premiere its new original Bengali film Nibba Nibbi on 14 August 2026. Directed by Tathagata Mukherjee, the film stars Sauraseni Mitra and Rishav Basu in the lead roles, marking their first on-screen collaboration.
Nibba Nibbi is presented as a comic adventure combining dark humour, thriller elements and road drama. Shankar Chakraborty and Shantilal Mukherjee are also part of the cast.
Ahead of the digital premiere, an interactive session featuring the cast and creative team was held at Canteen Grub & Pub, City Centre. Sauraseni Mitra, Rishav Basu, Shankar Chakraborty, Shantilal Mukherjee and director Tathagata Mukherjee were among those who discussed the film, its morally complex characters and the experience of bringing the story to screen.

Story of Nibba Nibbi
The story follows a young couple who unexpectedly come into possession of a hard drive containing secrets involving powerful people. What begins as an attempt to escape soon develops into an unpredictable road trip across Bengal.
As the journey progresses, love, power, betrayal and hypocrisy collide, placing the couple in increasingly complicated situations. The combination of a road journey with dark humour and thriller elements forms the central flavour of the film.
Director Tathagata Mukherjee said the team wanted to create something entertaining while exploring relationships, ambition and the darker aspects of human behaviour. The unpredictable nature of the characters and their decisions continually pushes the story in unexpected directions.
Sauraseni Mitra and Rishav Basu Together for the First Time
Nibba Nibbi brings Sauraseni Mitra and Rishav Basu together on screen for the first time. Their characters are at the centre of the unusual journey that drives the narrative.
Shankar Chakraborty and Shantilal Mukherjee also play important roles, adding to the ensemble surrounding the central couple.
Rusa Banerjee, Business Head, Bangla ZEE5, described the film as a distinctive combination of dark humour, adventure, thrills and drama. Nibba Nibbi is also ZEE5 Bangla’s first direct-to-digital original Bengali film of the year.
Nibba Nibbi Part of ZEE5 Bangla’s New Content Slate
Nibba Nibbi is also part of the major new Bengali content line-up announced by ZEE5 Bangla. The slate focuses on crime thrillers, romance, comedy and contemporary drama while combining returning franchises with new original stories.
Returning titles include Lalbazaar 2, Shwetkali 2, Shikarpur 2, Kaalipotka 2 and Mahaproloy.
The fresh line-up includes Aloor Dosh, Taarkata, Prem Shots, Osthir, Priyo Bondhu, Bakhtiyar er Swarnamudra, Nari Choritro Bejay Jotil and Nibba Nibbi.
With its confirmed 14 August 2026 OTT premiere, Nibba Nibbi becomes one of the upcoming Bengali originals leading ZEE5 Bangla’s expanding content slate.
