Kattalan has finally reached theatres, and the first reactions suggest that the film is turning into one of the most talked-about Malayalam action thrillers of the year. Starring Antony Varghese in the lead role, Kattalan opened to strong audience response, especially for its large-scale action sequences and intense theatrical experience.
Produced by Shareef Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner, the film arrives after the massive success of Marco, which created huge expectations among action movie fans. Early reports from theatres indicate that Kattalan has managed to deliver a high-energy cinematic experience with stylish visuals, action-packed sequences and powerful background music.

Kattalan Review and Audience Response
The biggest highlight of Kattalan appears to be its action choreography and theatre-worthy presentation. Audiences are particularly praising the large-scale stunt sequences, many of which were filmed under the supervision of internationally known action master Kecha Khamphakdee and his Thailand-based team.
Another major talking point among viewers is the background score composed by Ravi Basrur, who previously impressed pan-Indian audiences through KGF and Salaar. The music and sound design reportedly elevate the tension and intensity throughout the film.
The movie also stands out for its international-style action treatment and darker visual atmosphere, something Malayalam audiences do not regularly experience on a massive scale.
Strong Cast and Technical Team
Alongside Antony Varghese, the film features a large supporting cast including Dushara Vijayan, Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique, Hipster and Hanan Shah.
Directed by newcomer Paul George, Kattalan is written by Joby Varghese, Paul George and Jero Jacob, while dialogues are handled by Unni R.
Why Kattalan Is Getting Attention
One of the biggest reasons behind the early excitement is the film’s large-scale action setup and the reputation of Cubes Entertainments after Marco. The trailer and teaser had already generated strong curiosity among audiences, and the positive first-show reactions are now increasing the buzz further.
The film also features “Pong,” the elephant known from the Ong Bak series, adding another interesting international connection to the project.
With strong advance bookings, stylish action sequences and positive audience reactions, Kattalan is already becoming one of the most discussed Malayalam theatrical releases currently running in cinemas.
