Delhi Capitals kept their TATA IPL 2026 playoffs hopes alive with a three-wicket win against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala. “Delhi Capitals showed tremendous character in the chase, especially after losing early wickets in the Powerplay. Axar Patel’s innings was outstanding because he came in with clear intent right from ball one, despite the pressure of a 200-plus chase. Having experienced finishers like David Miller and Ashutosh Sharma behind him also gave him the confidence to play freely and take the game on. The dew certainly made conditions tougher for Punjab Kings in the second innings, particularly for the bowlers trying to control the ball, but Delhi still had to execute under pressure, and they managed the chase brilliantly, especially towards the back end.”
Speaking exclusively on JioHotstar’s ‘Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live’, JioStar expert Cheteshwar Pujara spoke about Punjab Kings’ missed opportunity with the bat:
“Punjab Kings will be very disappointed because this was a surface where they probably left 10–15 runs behind. Considering the conditions at Dharamshala and the amount of dew expected later in the evening, a score closer to 220 or 230 would have been ideal. There was some assistance early on, but once the ball got older, the pitch became much better for batting. It wasn’t a typical 200-run surface, especially with the spinners unlikely to have much impact, and Punjab perhaps could have capitalised more during the latter half of their innings.”
On ‘Fearless Prodigy’ Madhav Tiwari’s composure and clarity in a pressure chase:
“Madhav Tiwari showed impressive composure for a young player in such a high-pressure situation. What stood out was the clarity in his shot selection; he wasn’t trying to overpower the ball, but instead, focused on timing and placement. He read the field well, identified the gaps, and trusted his execution. Even his early boundaries reflected that awareness and calmness. Those are signs of maturity, and while he may not have played a lot at this level yet, the experience from domestic T20 cricket is clearly helping him adapt quickly.”
On the upcoming match between GT and SRH:
“This contest won’t just be about Gujarat Titans’ bowlers against SRH’s batting. GT’s batting lineup will also have a major role to play. Players like Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler have consistently laid strong foundations for them, while GT’s bowling attack, especially with Rabada and Siraj, becomes even more dangerous in Ahmedabad conditions. At the same time, SRH possess tremendous firepower with Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen in the top order. So, GT’s bowlers will definitely be tested. But overall, Gujarat Titans remain one of the toughest sides to beat at Ahmedabad.”
