The newly acquired library boasts over 30 original Gujarati web series, positioning it as one of the most comprehensive collections of Gujarati web content available. This impressive lineup features contributions from more than 450 local actors, highlighting the rich talent pool within the region. By integrating this extensive collection, ShemarooMe is building on its existing strengths in Gujarati content, evolving into a more robust ecosystem that encompasses original productions, curated libraries, and narratives deeply rooted in the culture and traditions of Gujarat.
Saurabh Srivastava, the Chief Operating Officer of Digital Business at Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, emphasizing the goal of making high-quality Gujarati stories more accessible to audiences worldwide. The first title set to premiere from this new library is “Vitthal Teedi,” featuring Pratik Gandhi, which will be available for streaming on ShemarooMe starting April 10th. This acclaimed series, set in the 1980s in Saurashtra, follows a small-time gambler as he navigates the complexities of personal ideals against the backdrop of challenging circumstances. With its character-driven narrative and culturally rich soundtrack featuring artists like Aditya Gadhvi and Geeta Rabari, “Vitthal Teedi” promises to deliver an authentic viewing experience that resonates with both local and global audiences.
