Player registration has officially opened for the SA20 Season 5 Auction, giving cricketers from South Africa and around the world an opportunity to register their interest for the upcoming auction. The SA20 Season 5 Auction will be held on October 7, 2026, with 19 player slots still available across four franchises.
Registration opened at 1:30 PM IST on Monday, August 24, and will remain open for three weeks, closing at 8:30 PM IST on Monday, September 14, 2026.

19 Player Slots Available for SA20 Season 5
All six SA20 franchises have completed their retentions and pre-signings ahead of the fifth season. Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals have already completed their 19-player squads, leaving the remaining four franchises to fill 19 positions at the auction.
Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town have the most work remaining, with six vacancies each. Both franchises also need to add one Under-23 player.
Pretoria Capitals have five available positions, while Sunrisers Eastern Cape have two slots remaining.

Star Players Confirmed for SA20 Season 5
The retained and pre-signed squads already feature several leading international cricketers. Mitchell Marsh, Joe Root, Sam Curran, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Holder and Phil Salt are among the overseas stars confirmed for Season 5.
The South African contingent includes Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Lungi Ngidi and David Miller, adding plenty of Proteas firepower to the milestone fifth season.
How Can Players Register for the SA20 Season 5 Auction?
Players from South Africa and other countries can submit their interest during the three-week registration window. Registration closes on September 14 at 8:30 PM IST, ahead of the October 7 auction.
The auction registration list will also serve as the pool from which replacement players can be selected during SA20 Season 5.
When Will SA20 Season 5 Start?
Betway SA20 Season 5 begins on Sunday, January 17, 2027, at St George’s Park. The tournament will run for more than a month before concluding with the Final at Newlands on Sunday, February 21, 2027.
Fans can also register for early-access ticket pre-sales ahead of the general sale. The early-access offering includes tickets for the Playoffs and Final.
With 19 positions still available and several franchises carrying significant auction purses, the October 7 SA20 Season 5 Auction will complete the squads ahead of the tournament’s fifth edition.
