The much-awaited Ponniyin Selvan II (PS2) is scheduled for its worldwide theatrical release on 28 April 2023. The sequel to Ponniyin Selvan I, one of the biggest Tamil films of 2022, will also release in IMAX theatres across India and select international markets.
IMAX Corporation and Lyca Productions announced the release date of the second instalment of Mani Ratnam’s historical epic. Prime Video has bagged the digital streaming rights of Ponniyin Selvan Part 2, with the OTT release expected after its theatrical run.

Ponniyin Selvan II Story
PS2 continues the story established in Ponniyin Selvan I, focusing on the Chola dynasty and Raja Raja Chola, one of the most powerful rulers of South India.
The second part continues the political conflicts, struggles for power and relationships surrounding the Chola kingdom. The story follows the events leading towards the rise of Raja Raja Chola and the consolidation of Chola power.
