Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. has officially announced the launch of Unite8 Sports, a new dedicated sports channel portfolio aimed at strengthening the company’s position in India’s rapidly growing sports broadcasting market.
As part of the expansion, Zee will introduce four sports channels:

- Unite8 Sports 1
- Unite8 Sports 1 HD
- Unite8 Sports 2
- Unite8 Sports 2 HD
The channels will broadcast a wide range of sporting events including football, kabaddi, cricket, badminton, wrestling, boxing, and combat sports. The Hindi-language feeds will cater to mass-market audiences, while the English feeds will target premium sports viewers.
The launch marks a major strategic move for Zee Entertainment as the broadcaster looks to expand beyond general entertainment and build a stronger presence in live sports broadcasting. Sports content continues to be one of the biggest drivers of television reach and digital engagement in India.
Over the years, Zee has aired several sports properties through its entertainment network. With Unite8 Sports, the company is now moving towards establishing a full-fledged sports ecosystem with dedicated channels and multi-sport programming.
The broadcaster confirmed that the required applications for launching the channels have already been submitted.
In another important development, Bavesh Janavlekar, who currently oversees Zee’s Marathi movie cluster and studio business, has now been assigned additional responsibility as the Chief Business Officer of the Unite8 Sports network.
The company also revealed that it is currently in discussions with FIFA regarding the Indian broadcast and streaming rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026. If finalized, the deal could become one of Zee’s biggest sports acquisitions and significantly boost the visibility of the newly launched sports network.
With Unite8 Sports, Zee Entertainment is aiming to build a strong long-term sports business driven by scale, innovation, and year-round live sporting action across multiple disciplines.
