In an age where belief is often performed louder than it is practiced, Mandali arrives on OTT with a quiet urgency that feels unmistakably current. The film shows how difficult, yet how important, it is to protect the ideals of Sanatan values. Directed by Rakesh Chaturvedi, the film looks at faith not as spectacle but as responsibility, asking what remains when tradition is stripped of sincerity.

Set in Mathura, the story follows Purushottam Choubey, played by Abhishek Duhan, a college peon who performs the role of Lord Laxman in Ramleela with devotion rather than ambition. Times are changing. Society is changing. But will we change our sense of dignity and values? For Puru, the stage is not a platform for applause but a form of prayer. His worldview is shaped by his uncle and mentor Ramsevak (Vineet Kumar), who teaches him that belief must be lived, not displayed. In today’s fast-paced life, we often forget that our traditions and values are our true identity. Mandali reminds us how Ramleela artists, despite living in poverty, continue to uphold dignity and moral values.

That belief is tested when Ramsevak is publicly humiliated and pushed out of the Ramleela, exposing how power quietly manipulates faith. What follows is not a dramatic revolt but a slow, isolating moral struggle, as Puru finds himself standing alone against political pressure, social hierarchy and convenient silence. From the Ramleela stage to the reality of society, this is a journey that will open your eyes. In the name of entertainment, are we losing our values?

The film’s emotional core deepens through Puru’s relationship with Bunty (Aanchal Munjal), whose presence reflects the cost of choosing integrity in a world that rewards compromise. Chanting Lord Ram’s name is easy, but walking on the path of Ram’s values is difficult. Mandali reflects the pain of those artists who, despite poverty and humiliation, continue to keep the divine stories of Lord Ram alive. Together, their journey reveals how tradition loses meaning when stripped of compassion.

Nearly two years after its theatrical release, Mandali finds renewed relevance on OTT, where its layered silences and moral questions can be absorbed without distraction. Produced by Prashant Kumar Gupta, Geetika Gupta and Neetu Sabarwal of Reltic Pictures, the film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, inviting viewers to reflect on what it truly means to stand by one’s conscience.
