Actress Sumbul Touqeer Khan Shares About Sister Saniya
Sony SAB’s Itti Si Khushi continues to strike an emotional chord with viewers through the journey of Anvita (Sumbul Touqeer Khan), a young woman who has stepped into the role of a guardian for her siblings. As the show navigates through right and wrong, and the growing divide in Khotachiwadi amid mysterious thefts, the bond between Anvita and her younger sister Chidiya (Aayesha Vindhara) has taken centre stage.
In the ongoing track, Chidiya finds herself drawn into the glamorous world of a social media influencer, K Love. Influenced by her friends, who avidly follow K Love, Chidiya is told that in order to be part of their inner circle, she must complete the challenges given by the influencer. Eager to belong, Chidiya begins taking up these challenges, gradually changing in ways that worry her elder sister Anvita. Observing these shifts, Anvita tries to patiently explain the difference between right and wrong, guiding her sister with care and concern. Portraying Anvita, Sumbul Touqeer Khan shares that these scenes felt deeply personal, often reminding her of conversations she has with her own sister, Saniya.
Opening up about the experience, Sumbul Touqeer Khan shared, “The current track is very special to me because it mirrors something very real. As Anvita, when I sit down and explain to Chidiya what is right and what might not be the best choice for her, it doesn’t feel like I’m acting. It genuinely feels like I’m talking to my own sister, Saniya. I’m very protective about her in real life, and whenever she’s confused or upset, I naturally slip into that ‘elder sister mode.’ So when Anvita sits Chidiya down to calmly make her understand things, it came very instinctively to me. There have been so many times in real life when I’ve had similar conversations with her about friends, about influences, about making choices that feel exciting in the moment but may not always be right. That protective instinct just comes naturally to me. I think that genuine bond reflects on screen, and that’s what makes their relationship so special.”
