“ Priyansh Arya Is Undoubtedly A Key Component Of That PBKS Structure ” : Eoin Morgan
Punjab Kings remained at the top of the table with a resounding 54-run win against Lucknow Super Giants, while Kolkata Knight Riders bagged their first win in the earlier game against Rajasthan Royals in the TATA IPL 2026. Speaking on Star Sports’ ‘Amul Cricket Live’ and JioHotstar’s ‘Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live’, JioStar experts Eoin Morgan, Anil Kumble, and Mitchell McClenaghan, along with PBKS batter Cooper Connolly, shared their thoughts on PBKS’ batting depth, positives for LSG, and KKR getting their first points on the board.

Speaking on Star Sports’ ‘Amul Cricket Live’, JioStar expert Eoin Morgan spoke about Punjab Kings’ batting depth:
“Punjab Kings have reached a very strong position where they are no longer solely reliant on their Captain or a superstar to deliver every time. They were so far ahead in the game that individual contributions almost became secondary; such is their depth that they would likely have posted 230–240 regardless. This allows them to ease the pressure on key players like Shreyas Iyer. When the rest of the batting unit is firing, it strengthens the side further, even if some players haven’t had much time at the crease.”
On ‘Fearless Prodigy’ Priyansh Arya’s batting approach:
“It reflects a clear and confident mindset. He comes across as a transparent thinker who is making the most of his opportunities over time. This is not a short-term phase of form, it’s part of a larger plan by Punjab Kings and Ricky Ponting, with a defined template in place. Priyansh Arya is undoubtedly a key component of that structure.”
On Cooper Connolly’s batting:
“He is just 22-years-old, and when a young player comes into an environment like Punjab Kings, the biggest compliment is how much it elevates his stature. He looked slightly frenetic early on, which is part of finding the balance between risk and reward. Once he settled, particularly after facing around 20 balls, he shifted gears impressively and took the attack to the opposition. He struck the ball as well as anyone in this tournament.”
Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live’, PBKS’ Cooper Connolly elaborated on his innings:
“I was out there for a little while. I was 19 off 22. Priyansh wasn’t saying much to me, so I was a little bit nervous. But spending some time out in the middle with him was great. I hadn’t batted with him before. He’s super exciting to watch, and I’m looking forward to what he can do for the rest of the tournament. For me, it was about understanding what was happening at the other end. Priyansh was scoring quite quickly. I probably could have been a touch better at that, but it was enjoyable to spend some time out there. I just had to find my rhythm and my tempo.”
Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live’, JioStar expert Mitchell McClenaghan highlighted the positives for LSG:
“The big takeaway would be Rishabh Pant getting some runs. He actually looked pretty solid and seemed to be getting back to his old self. That’s what Lucknow are going to need. Nicholas Pooran still looks horribly out of form, unfortunately for LSG. We don’t know when Inglis is going to turn up. So, Rishabh Pant’s form is going to be important for them to win fixtures going forward. Mitch Marsh looked good as well, and Markram, even in that middle-order role, showed that he is versatile. He should have been at the top. When you are chasing 255, you need someone to score a hundred. So, who in that side is going to score your hundreds? It’s going to be Markram, Mitch Marsh, Rishabh Pant, or Nicholas Pooran. It was interesting to see him come in so low down.”
Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live’, JioStar expert Anil Kumble heaped praise on Rinku Singh for finishing the game for KKR:
“It was much needed for KKR and Rinku Singh. He’s a class player and a good finisher. It was important for KKR that he stayed until the end. They were in trouble, having lost six wickets for 80-odd, and still needed 70 runs. To get those in good time, under pressure, was really impressive. Riyan Parag was obviously disappointed. KKR had been really struggling and were very close to beating LSG, and then suddenly, Mukul Choudhary changed the game. They’ve had some close moments, so to get those two points and that first win certainly gives them a lot of confidence. Rinku Singh and Ajinkya Rahane would certainly be happy.”
