Manmohan Tiwari has been one of the most loved characters on the show for years. After more than a decade, what keeps the character exciting for you as an actor?
It has been around 11 wonderful years with Tiwari ji, and that journey itself feels very special. Playing a character for this long means you grow with him in many ways. Tiwari ji is full of contradictions ambitious yet insecure, confident yet constantly frustrated and that is what makes him so entertaining to portray. Over the years, I have understood his quirks, his frustrations, and his hilarious reactions to situations much better. Even today, every new storyline brings something fresh, so it never really feels repetitive. In a way, Tiwari ji has become like an old companion whose world keeps evolving with time.
Tiwari Ji’s comic frustration and one-liners are iconic. Do you approach the humour differently now?
Comedy evolves with time, and as actors we also grow. Earlier, much of the humour came from the spontaneity of discovering the character. Now I understand Tiwari ji’s psychology much better his reactions, his pride, and his constant rivalry with Vibhuti (Aasif sheikh). That understanding helps me play the humour with more nuance. The challenge now is to keep the comedy fresh while preserving the flavour audiences love.
You are reuniting with Shilpa Shinde, the OG Angoori, after several years. How has it been sharing the screen with her again?
It has been really wonderful. Shilpa and I shared a very memorable on-screen equation earlier, and that chemistry is something audiences always loved. When you work with someone for a long time, there is a natural comfort and rhythm that develops, especially in comedy where timing is so important. Shooting together again brought back many fond memories from the earlier days of the show. At the same time, it also feels fresh because we are exploring new situations and storylines. There is a lot of laughter on set, and I think that energy is definitely reflecting in the episodes.
What kind of twists can fans expect from the upcoming episodes?
Let me just say that Tiwari ji is going to land in situations that are even more chaotic and hilarious than before! The ongoing resort track will bring unexpected misunderstandings, clever schemes, and plenty of classic neighbourhood drama. Sometimes Tiwari ji’s plans backfire spectacularly, and those moments are always the most entertaining. Viewers can expect plenty of surprises and laugh-out-loud moments.
Over the last 11 years on the show, is there a particular experience or memory that has stayed close to your heart?
Over the past 11 years, there have been countless memories that I will always cherish. One of the most special moments for me is the immense love we receive from the audience everywhere we go. I remember once shooting outdoors when a large crowd gathered just to watch us perform, and people started calling out “Tiwari ji!” with so much affection. That kind of connection with viewers is truly overwhelming and reminds me why this character is so special. Another beautiful memory is the bond we share as a team. Over the years, the cast and crew have become like a second family. We have celebrated festivals, birthdays, and even small achievements together on set. The laughter we create on screen often continues even after the cameras stop rolling, and that warmth and camaraderie are what make this journey so memorable for me.
Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai has enjoyed such long-lasting popularity. In your view, what keeps the show so relevant even today?
The beauty of the show lies in its simplicity and relatability. The humour comes from everyday situations, exaggerated in a playful way, and the characters feel like people you might actually know. Families can sit together and enjoy the comedy without overthinking it. That combination of innocence, strong character dynamics, and consistent humour is what keeps the show close to viewers’ hearts even today.
