“One thing I personally believe is that change is constant and time has a way of transforming people,”
Candid Conversation With Rishi Saxena , Itti Si Khushi Serial Actor
Sony SAB’s Itti Si Khushi continues to engage audiences with its emotionally layered storytelling and evolving character arcs. In a surprising turn, Inspector Sanjay Bhosale (Rishi Saxena), who was earlier seen as Anvita’s (Sumbul Touqeer) estranged husband, has re-entered the narrative with a reformed outlook. His return marks a significant shift in the storyline, as viewers now witness a more introspective and positive side to a character that was once deeply flawed.

In this candid conversation, Rishi Saxena opens up about portraying Sanjay’s intense journey, navigating the transition from a grey, violent past to a more evolved present, and what audiences can expect from his comeback.
Sanjay was earlier portrayed as a character with many intense and complex shades. What was your first reaction when you were told about his return with a transformed arc?
Honestly, I was really looking forward to it. I always felt that this transformation would happen eventually. Even while portraying those complex shades, I made sure there was a motive behind his actions, so that when this phase came, the character would have a genuine and believable reason to evolve.
What aspects of Sanjay’s personality are you enjoying exploring the most in this new phase?
What’s interesting is that Sanjay doesn’t want the world to know that he’s helping Anvita and Virat. Even if he knows deep down that his actions are for their benefit, he maintains a very nonchalant exterior. I’ve tried to play that layering in a subtle way, so if you observe closely, you can pick up on what he’s really feeling beneath the surface.
Did you make any specific changes to your performance style or body language to reflect this shift?
Not really. I believe he is essentially the same person, just with a different mindset now. So for me, it was more about that internal shift rather than making visible changes to his body language or performance style.
Now that Sanjay is back, how would you describe his mindset and emotional state?
According to me, Sanjay’s earlier actions stemmed from his pride and ego. Now, after being away for a few months, he has had the time to reflect on everything. He understands where things went wrong and why. He’s still the same person at his core, but without that sense of pride and ego guiding his decisions anymore.
How do you think Sanjay’s return will impact Anvita’s journey and the overall storyline?
Sanjay has come back with the intention of correcting things he did in the heat of the moment. This time, he’s not someone who creates hurdles, but rather someone who helps Anvita move in the right direction. That shift will definitely influence the story in an interesting way.
Do you personally believe characters like Sanjay can truly evolve over time?
One thing I personally believe is that change is constant, and time has a way of transforming people. I also feel that when someone takes the time to reflect and truly understand their past actions, it naturally brings a shift in perspective. So yes, I do believe that such evolution is very much possible.
How has your experience been working with Sumbul Touqeer Khan in such emotionally layered scenes?
It’s always fun performing with Sumbul Touqeer Khan. A good performance is all about give and take, and I think we really complement each other well in scenes. That synergy helps us bring out the best in those moments.
