Gurdas shares, “Well, when Yash Ji asked me to sing a few lines for Veer-Zaara, because the film was connected to the land of Punjab, I sang for him. And then, he said, “Gurdas, do you think we can fit a line in here?” He said, “Let me play the music.” He played it, and I told him, “Play it again.” When he played it again, the lines from ‘Jugni’ just fit perfectly. The words of ‘Jugni’ came alive in that moment.”
He continued, “Later, I got a call from Yash Ji, and he said, “Gurdas, we need one more song. Amitabh Bachchan Ji and Hema Malini Ji are performing a Lohri song. Can you sing it too?” I jokingly asked him, “Why are you playing with me? My voice doesn’t suit this song.” He said, ‘It doesn’t suit? Amitabh Ji himself has said that this song should be sung by Gurdas.’ When Amitabh Ji said that, it truly touched my heart and was a huge honor for me. I was overwhelmed by the respect he showed.”
