“Even though this game was abandoned and both teams take a point, the pressure doesn’t go away for KKR. Cameron Green, especially, is under the scanner, a big-money player, who hasn’t fired yet. Every time he gets dismissed, the noise only grows louder, and the next time he walks out, that pressure will be even more intense. An abandoned game doesn’t change that, if anything, it just delays the scrutiny.”
On PBKS as a strong contender this season:
“Punjab Kings are definitely one of the teams to beat. They were outstanding last season, reached the final, and have started this season strongly as well. What makes them different is their batting. They rely heavily on young Indian players with limited international experience, supported by overseas players, and yet it all comes together really well. Their bowling isn’t extraordinary, but it’s effective, and the team is being managed brilliantly by Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting. Having said that, they’ll feel a bit hard done by with this abandoned game because on current form, they would have backed themselves to win it more often than not.”

“KKR have immense experience in their support staff; players like Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell and Tim Southee, who understand different match situations and how IPL evolves. That clarity reflects in decision-making. With KKR, that’s where the concern lies, their calls haven’t been as sharp, and their key players haven’t delivered consistently with either bat or ball. Even someone like Sunil Narine, who has been economical, hasn’t been used enough in the Powerplay, where he could make an impact. These are areas KKR need to address quickly, because it’s not going to be an easy turnaround.”
