The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the schedule for the initial phase of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, set to take place from March 28 to April 12, 2026. However, due to State Assembly elections occurring in three states during this timeframe, the complete tournament schedule will be released once the election dates are confirmed. This year marks the 19th edition of the IPL, which is renowned as the largest T20 league in the world, and it will kick off with an exciting match where the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), will face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In total, the tournament will feature 20 matches spread across 10 different venues, including major cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. Fans can look forward to four thrilling double-header days, with afternoon games starting at 03:30 PM IST and evening matches beginning at 07:30 PM IST. The action will continue right after the opening match on Saturday, as the Mumbai Indians will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai the following day, promising a weekend filled with cricket excitement.
The first double-header of the season is scheduled for April 4, 2026, featuring a clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians in the afternoon at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, followed by the Gujarat Titans battling the Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Additionally, the Rajasthan Royals will kick off their home campaign in Guwahati, where they will host both the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be playing their early home matches at the PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, setting the stage for a competitive and entertaining season ahead.
