New Zealand cricket star Rachin Ravindra has revealed that he supports Manchester City and admires the club’s playing style. His comments come ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League 2026–27 match against Crystal Palace.

Rachin Ravindra Supports Manchester City
Speaking to JioStar, Rachin Ravindra explained why Manchester City is his preferred Premier League team.
“I’m a Manchester City guy. I’ve followed them for a while. I like the way they play and the style of football they bring,” Ravindra said.
The New Zealand all-rounder also praised Manchester City’s ability to dominate possession and dictate matches.
“Watching them is always exciting, and I enjoy seeing how they control games,” he added.
Etihad Stadium Visit Made Him a Manchester City Fan
Ravindra said one of his most memorable football experiences was watching a Manchester City match at the Etihad Stadium.
“I’ve had two incredible football experiences. One of them made me a Manchester City fan. They hosted me at the Etihad Stadium for the first Premier League game of last season against Tottenham,” he said.
Although Manchester City did not win the match, Ravindra described the stadium experience as a memorable occasion.
“We didn’t win, but it was still a great day,” he added.
Watching Spain vs Portugal in Dallas
The cricketer also recalled attending the Round of 16 match between Spain and Portugal in Dallas.
“More recently, I went to the Round of 16 match between Spain and Portugal in Dallas. That was one of the best days of my life,” Ravindra said.
He added that the possibility of watching Cristiano Ronaldo’s final international appearance made the occasion particularly emotional.
“It might have been Ronaldo’s last international game, which was a bit sad, but it was special to be there,” he explained.
Chris Woakes Would Be a Strong Centre-Back
When asked which cricketer could perform well as a football player, Ravindra selected England all-rounder Chris Woakes.
“I’d say Chris Woakes. He would make a very solid centre-back,” Ravindra said.
According to him, Woakes possesses several qualities required of a dependable central defender.
“He’s good on the ball, comfortable under pressure and reads the game well. I think he has the skills to play that role,” he added.
