The year 2025 truly belonged to Sonam Bajwa as the Punjabi cinema superstar made a powerful entry into Hindi cinema. In her very first year in Bollywood, the actress was part of three major films—Housefull 5, Baaghi 4, and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Among these, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year during the Diwali festive season. Now, Sonam is all set to carry this success forward into the coming year, beginning 2026 with a massive release right in the first month.
Recently, the teaser of Border 2 was unveiled, where Sonam Bajwa will be seen opposite Diljit Dosanjh in this war-based drama. This marks her fourth Hindi film. Sonam has consistently shared screen space with leading stars in all her Hindi projects, further reinforcing her growing star power. While 2025 concluded on a high note for her with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, 2026 is poised to begin on an even grander scale with Border 2.

Speaking about this exciting journey and Border 2, Sonam Bajwa shares,
“Director Anurag Singh approached me for Border 2. We already share a great working relationship, as we’ve collaborated before. Interestingly, Diljit was also part of both those films, which made our association in Punjab quite special.”
She further adds, “In Border 2, I am playing the role of ‘Manjeet’, a Punjabi woman from Ambala, who is the wife of Diljit Dosanjh’s character, Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon. Anurag told me that I was the first person who came to his mind for this role, which meant a lot to me. I was extremely excited because the moment I heard that Border 2 was being made, it became a dream project for me.”
Revisiting her childhood memories, Sonam says, “I can’t even remember how many times I watched Border on television during my childhood. It’s one of my favourite films and holds so many nostalgic memories for me. Being a part of a film like this fills me with immense pride and happiness.”
Border 2 is scheduled to release on the occasion of Republic Day 2026. Along with Sonam Bajwa, the film also stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and Ahan Singh in key roles.
