Singer Abhijeet Ghoshal, who rose to fame on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and is known for blending devotional music with Bollywood melodies, has opened up about Holi, saying the festival of colors shares the same rhythm as music. Abhijeet shares, “Holi is a festival that asks you to surrender. It is about stepping into joy without hesitation. To let go of fears, routines, and even the idea of being perfect. For those few hours, you are not planning or judging. You are simply present. That is where joy begins, and that is where music begins too.”

Abhijeet explains how music mirrors the lessons of Holi. “A note, a rhythm, a melody does not happen when you try to force it. It only lands when you let it flow. That is the same feeling Holi gives. When colors fly in the air, when laughter spreads, when people dance together, there is connection without words. That is the essence of celebration.”

He has performed across India, released self-composed bhajans with T-Series, and recently won the Clef Music Award for Damroo Bajaye. His philosophy has always been that music is about authenticity and feeling, and that same principle shapes how he experiences festivals like Holi.

“Even without words, music and Holi create connection,” he says. “Strangers playing with colors feel like old friends. A rhythm, a song, a melody reaches hearts in ways language cannot. That is why music belongs at the centre of every celebration.”

“For me, both music and Holi teach the same lesson,” Abhijeet Ghoshal adds. “Joy comes when you release control, when you surrender to the moment. That is the freedom, the presence, and the celebration of life. That is why singing or listening to music during Holi feels inseparable from the festival itself.”

He concludes, “Holi and music remind us that life is meant to be felt. Both ask us to let go, to connect, and to celebrate fully. That is the heart of the festival and the soul of every song I sing.
