She discusses how the current storyline, which explores Pushpa’s journey of balancing her responsibilities as a mother with her own identity and independence, has been transformative for her character.

1) How has Pushpa’s character evolved over the past two years?

When the show first began, Pushpa was primarily a woman dedicated to her children, managing various jobs to support them, while her own dream of education remained unfulfilled. On a personal level, her life has evolved significantly — her children Ashwin (Navin Pandita) and Chirag (Darshan Gurjar) got married, and Rashi has started pursuing her media career.

Pushpa has learned a lot through the ups and downs she’s faced, which has shaped her growth both educationally and emotionally.

2) Pushpa has raised her children single-handedly, and now she’s witnessing her family start to disintegrate. How will she deal with this challenge?

Pushpa (Karuna Pandey) has raised her children single-handedly, guiding them through life’s ups and downs with unwavering dedication. Now that her children are grown and starting their own families, it’s a bittersweet moment for her as a mother.

Although she feels the pain of seeing her role change, she remains resilient, understanding that this is a natural progression in life. While she navigates this new phase with a heavy heart, Pushpa is determined to continue supporting her children in the best way she can, even if that means stepping back and letting them find their own paths.

3) In the current track, as Pushpa steps back from her duties as a mother, what changes are the audience seeing?

In the current storyline, Pushpa (Karuna Pandey) isn’t stepping away from motherhood entirely, but she is giving her children the space they need. She’s focused on keeping them happy by respecting their wishes and not interfering in their lives. Pushpa has come to realize that there’s no point in meddling if it risks her respect or theirs.

While she’s stepping back from the day-to-day duties of motherhood, she remains a mother at heart. She’s now decided to only intervene when necessary and to give just the right amount of guidance. This shift has led to a subtle but significant change in her character.

4) Despite the challenges, Pushpa remains resolute. How does she manage to balance her emotions and stay firm in her choice?

I don’t think Pushpa feels guilty about her decision. She took her time to think it through, reflecting on the advice her father used to give her. While the decision was influenced by her circumstances and the pressure she faced, she has now embraced it fully. Pushpa (Karuna Pandey) understands that before being a mother, she is a woman, and it’s important for her to maintain her self-respect. Although the journey will be difficult, and she will face emotional challenges, Pushpa is determined to balance her feelings and remain strong in her resolve.

5) In a society where women’s vulnerabilities are often highlighted, what message do you hope Pushpa’s decision conveys to other women facing similar issues?

From the very beginning of the show, I’ve always told women that before being a mother, you are first a woman. This means you have a responsibility to yourself—to your own happiness and well-being—regardless of societal or relationship pressures. Pushpa’s (Karuna Pandey) decision, though harsh on herself, is ultimately a good one for her children, as they too deserve their space.

This choice reflects the strength and power within every woman to let go when necessary, understanding that it is a natural cycle of life. The message I hope to convey through Pushpa is that it’s important to hold on to your inner strength and not cling to things that are meant to pass.

6) Everyone sees Pushpa as unstoppable, managing the household, family, and work effortlessly. How does it feel to embody a character like “Pushpa Impossible”?

It’s an incredible feeling, truly. To have a show named after your character (Karuna Pandey) as an actor is a delight, and being part of such a beautifully written, produced, and directed show is a privilege. Meeting people who share how their lives have changed after watching Pushpa Impossible and how deeply the character has touched their hearts is immensely rewarding.

Of course, not everyone will resonate with my on-screen image or acting style, but the overwhelming support and love from the majority make it all worth it. As an actor, what more could I (Karuna Pandey) ask for than to be appreciated, loved, and recognized for my work.

Tune in to watch Pushpa Impossible from Monday to Saturday at 9:30 PM only on Sony SAB.
