Pursuant to an order dated March 18, 2026, passed by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court restraining Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. and Blue God Entertainment from creating third-party rights or otherwise dealing with the media and commercial rights of the Legends League Cricket Masters T20 tournament, Jiostar India Pvt. Ltd. observed that the league continued to be hosted, aired, and streamed across multiple platforms despite the subsistence of the restraint order, in apparent violation of the Court’s directions.
Following this, Jiostar is understood to have issued communications to the concerned parties, calling for immediate compliance with the Court’s order. Upon receipt of such communication, Sony reportedly ceased the broadcast of the league on its channel. However, as the league allegedly continued to be made available on other platforms, including YouTube and certain digital streaming services, Jiostar is learnt to have initiated legal proceedings by filing an application for contempt before the Hon’ble Court, citing wilful non-compliance.
The matter was mentioned before the Court on March 20, 2026, and was taken up on an urgent basis. During the hearing, Absolute Legends is stated to have informed the Court that the broadcast had been halted and that they had complied with the directions. The entity further undertook to cease all activities related to the league and to remove all associated content from its platforms.
It is also understood that Absolute Legends has committed to acting promptly on any further instances of non-compliance brought to its notice.
The developments are seen as reinforcing the importance of contractual and media rights, particularly in the context of sports broadcasting, and underscore the need for adherence to legal and financial obligations. Jiostar is said to be continuing to monitor the situation closely.
