” We approached the scenes with great care as people’s emotions are attached ” – Siddhi Sharma on shooting Madhushravani sequence in Ishq Jabariya
Actress Siddhi Sharma Sharing Ishq Jabariya Serial Shooting Experience
Sun Neo’s show Ishq Jabariya is winning hearts with each episode, thanks to its engaging twists and turns. The creative team and actors are leaving no stone unturned to captivate audiences. Recently, the Ishq Jabariya team shot a beautiful and traditional sequence celebrating Madhushravani, a Hindu festival observed by newly married brides in the Mithila region.
Actress Siddhi Sharma, who plays the lead role of Gulki, shared her experience filming this sequence for the first time, the challenges she faced, and the festival’s significance.
Discussing the challenges of shooting the scene, Siddhi shared, “I heard about Madhushravani for the first time, and since these are traditional rituals, we had to ensure everything was done properly because people’s emotions are attached with it. That’s why we approached the scenes with great care.”

“We first worshipped our on-screen husbands and listened to the Katha (story) of Shiva and Parvati. On set, we had authentic Kobar paintings, and we made clay statues of snakes, which we also worshipped. One of the biggest challenges was the burning sensation caused by the diya on my lap. However, we’re happy that we managed to pull off everything gracefully,” she further added.
Explaining the tradition of Madhushravani, Siddhi Sharma said, “Madhushravani is a ritual performed during the first Shravan for newlywed brides. In this pooja, stories of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are narrated to the bride. As part of the tradition, a Kobar is created, which includes ancient, deity-related paintings, and the worship of Nagdevta (the serpent deity). Married women observe a ‘Nirjal’ fast during this time, which spans 14 days, although nowadays, the rituals are often concentrated on the final day.

She added, “One significant ritual involves placing a leaf on the married woman’s lap, upon which her husband places a diya (lamp). After some time, the husband extinguishes the diya, a test meant to gauge the woman’s patience and tolerance. Another ritual is ‘Hriday Sparsh’ or ‘Heart Touch,’ where the husband is traditionally blindfolded, but in our scene, the wife is blindfolded and must find her husband’s heart.”
Ishq Jabariya, airing on Sun Neo, is a heartwarming love story about Gulki (Siddhi Sharma), a cheerful young woman who aspires to become an air hostess but encounters unexpected challenges along the way. It features Kamya Panjabi, Siddhi Sharma, and Lakshay Khurana in pivotal roles.
